Classes of Membership of Chamber of Commerce in Pakistan.
There are two major Chambers of Commerce and industry membership classes. They are as follows:
Corporate Class means that a multinational corporation or body corporate that is a Member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry has either its head office or branch office in Pakistan. Also, they would be having an annual turnover of Rs.50 million or above, or they would have a registered concern of having a yearly turnover of the same amount.
Similarly, a body corporate that is not a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry has its head/branch office in Pakistan and has an annual turnover of Rs. 50 million or below.
Individuals are considered “Pakistan Persons,” no matter where they live in the world if they are Pakistan citizens or CNIC holders. You may be a tax resident in another country as well.
Moreover, in Pakistan, the membership process for any chamber of commerce and Industry in Karachi, Lahore, Sialkot, etc., is mostly similar. The eligibility criteria are as follows:
The applicant is a sole proprietorship or a partnership firm or an association of persons or a company holding national tax number and sales tax registration, if applicable, in the name of the business concern.
Moreover, the applicant’s business fits within the defined business scope or jurisdiction of Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, or any other city where membership is required.
The application for grant of membership shall be proposed and seconded by existing members of the chamber.
Likewise, the applicant has no criminal conviction.
The applicant shall duly fill the Membership Form and Signature / ID Card Form, available at the chamber office.
Also, one should propose a membership form
The applicant shall attach the required documents with the membership form mentioned from now on.
So, applicants submitting the required fee via cheque (mentioned from now on) shall make at the cash counter of the chamber of commerce.
A person should collect the membership certificate or in the case of an authorized representative. The applicant’s authorization letter must provide the name of the person authorized to collect the membership certificate on behalf of the Proprietor / Partner / Director.
Following is the list of documents required for membership registration with the chamber for Proprietorship, Partnership, and Private Limited Company:
So, a written application on business letterhead addressed to the Secretary-General LCCI/KCCI/ICCI/SCCI, etc., for grant of membership.
Filled in Membership Form and Signature / ID Card Form
Likewise, C.N.I.C photocopy of the Proprietor / Partners/ Directors
Photocopy of Sales Tax Registration Certificate(if applicable)
Photocopy of National Tax Number Certificate of the Proprietor / Partners/ Directors
Original bank certificate in the name of business applied for membership.
Also, copy of partnership deed executed on Rs.500/stamp paper duly attested by Notary Public (for partnership firm)
The copy of the Firm Registration Certificate issued by the Registrar of Firms (for partnership firm)
Copy of memorandum and articles of association of the Company attested by SECP (for a private limited company)
Also, you need Copy of Incorporation Certificate issued by Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan attested by SECP (for a private limited company)
Copy of Form-29 certified by SECP (for a private limited company)
Likewise, a previous copy of a utility bill (gas/electricity/phone) was paid from the business premises.
Overwriting or cutting in the Membership Form will not be acceptable.
The signature of the applicant on the Membership Form should match with the signature on CNIC.
Moreover, according to the regulations provided under the trade organization’s memorandum and articles of association, membership could be denied or disqualified if any member breaches any provision of the Trade Organizations Ordinance, 2007.
The membership shall be renewable on an annual basis subject to fulfillment of the following conditions, namely:
Moreover, payment of prescribed subscription within the stipulated in the Memorandum and Articles of Association shall not be later than 31st March every year.
Proof of filing return of income tax and sales tax, if applicable, for the preceding year.
